Xylography is the process of printing from engraved wooden blocks. Dating back to 200AD it is thought to be the first method used to print onto paper. Woodblock printing, although still very labour intensive, was cheaper than hand copied manuscripts and was the trigger for the emergence and growth of the print industry in Asia. Xylography is commonly called woodcut printing in Europe. AR Christy is the typeface used in the quilt.

This piece is one of four small quilts in my Print series that were part of my solo exhibition at Festival of Quilts in 2019. The quilt is supplied with top and bottom hanging sleves.
